On Thursday, Mrs Wright took our girls and boys open tennis teams to albury to play in the chs knockout. After progressing to the 3rd round, our girls team, consisting of Halle, Isabelle, Zara, Grace and Emily, faced off against a seasoned Albury High team. Grace and Zara secured a solid victory in their first doubles 6-4, with Grace continuing her winning streak in singles at 6-2, forcing the Albury girls to play the reverse doubles. With Halle and Isabelle then winning their doubles 6-3 it was up to Grace and Zara to square it up. Unfortunately they couldn't come away with the win, but their effort was outstanding.
Nevertheless, their performance was impressive, securing 3 out of 8 sets and surprising their opponents.
Meanwhile, our boys' team, made up of Tyler, Fletcher, Ashton, Brodie, and James, battled Corowa High in the second round. They kicked off with a dominant display, winning both first doubles matches 6-2. Securing three out of four singles sets, they advanced to face Albury High in the next round. Despite Brodie's remarkable 6-1 victory in singles, our boys couldn't replicate their success in the doubles matches, ultimately falling short.
Congratulations to both teams for their outstanding effort and exemplary representation of our school. We eagerly anticipate next year's competition.
